I never realised the stark symbolism in the statue that stands on the left-hand side of the Glamorgan Building – the former HQ of Glamorgan County Council, when that county still existed. The front side shows roman gods and goddesses (lords and ladies) – the wealthy in other words – and behind, hidden from view are two coal miners.
Looking out from the civic centre towards the business and retail area of the city this winged beauty looks over towards where we all get on with our lives.
A detail from the top of City Hall. A Welsh dragon of course!
Then on either side of City Hall are montages; I chose to take this one because the flag was presenting itself well in the light wind.
