Reflections at Tarn Hows

 

Having not had the best of weather on Walna Scar we headed for Tarn Hows, a NT site which has a lovely walk around the lake. Lots of pictures taken, but none that really stood out. The one above I quite like because I think it’s nicely framed and there are some half-decent foreground reflections (but I should have probably used a polarising filter).

Then, just as we were about to leave, thinking the sun was never going to break through the clouds, this explosion of light hit the tree  – spectacular against the dark sky.

    Wow! David, this is a winning shot indeed! You have captured the autumnal colour of the silver birch tree against the dusty grey sky and the golden russets in the ferns in the foreground are stunning . A beautiful scene…well done!

    Thanks Frances. It was a really dull afternoon and then the sun just broke through and we got about 5mins of this low-angle sun which hit the tree and the hillside beside us. Very lucky!
